Immigration Legal Chambers Solicitors (VAT is 20%)
Below are estimates of fees payable for certain types of applications. The actual cost will depend on a number of factors including the complexity of your case and seniority of the lawyer dealing with the matter and the time spent on your matter:
Our consultation rate is £50.00 plus VAT for a 30-minute consultation. We will deduct this consultation fee from your total fees once we
are engaged to act for you.
We cannot offer legal advice over the phone or by email prior to being formally engaged as your legal representative, but our solicitors
are happy to understand your matter over the phone/by email and offer consultation if it is required.
Our current rates are set out below:
- All figures attract VAT unless specifically stated.
- In all cases, the quoted fee includes:
- Meeting with you
- Taking initial instructions
- Discussing your circumstances in detail and confirming whether this is the most appropriate application for you to make and what other
options may be available to you giving you advice about the requirements of the Immigration Rules, timescales, and whether you meet the criteria if you do not fulfill certain criteria, whether this can be overcome and how considering the supporting evidence, you have provided - Where necessary, helping you obtain further evidence (such as medical records and bank statements), including taking statements of any
witnesses - preparing your application and submitting it on your behalf giving you advice about the outcome of the application and any further steps you need to take.
- However, the exact number of hours it will take depends on the circumstances in your case. Such as: The amount of supporting evidence that we need to consider
- Which language(s) you speak. You do not always have to use an interpreter of the firm’s choosing. You can bring a friend or another
community figure to come and help interpret. - Whether you are applying with other dependants.
- If you are able to provide sufficient evidence at our first meeting and clearly meet the applicable Immigration Rules, the cost is likely to
be at the lower end of this range
What’s not included in the costs set out above:
- Attendance at a Home Office interview: if the Home Office asks you to attend an interview, we will give you clear advice and discuss the possibility of us attending with you at the appropriate time. This could be between 4 and 6 hours of work.
- Where the Home Office refuse your application, advice, and assistance in relation to any appeal/review or further work on the matter
If there is an interview and we do attend with you, there will be additional disbursements in respect of our mileage/travel expenses - Who will carry out the work?

Solicitor/Director assisted by a Trainee Solicitors or a Paralegal Immigration Assistants/Paralegals

Hourly Rates:

Disbursements
Disbursements are costs related to your matter that are payable to third parties, such as visa fees. We handle the
payment of the disbursements on your behalf to ensure a smoother process.

Booking appointments with UKVCAS fees is Usually £70.00 – £150.00 plus Vat. A quotation can be provided
upon request.
Counsel / Barrister fees are between £450.00 to £3000.00 plus vat (dependent upon experience). A quotation can be
provided upon request.
Interpreters fees are usually £40.00 plus vat per hour. A quotation can be provided upon request.
Independent expert reports e.g. medical experts. The costs vary between £500.00 to £2000.00 plus Vat. These are
not required in many cases: we will let you know as soon as possible if we consider an expert report is necessary.
Time Scale
How long will my application take?
We cannot guarantee how long the Home Office will take to process your application. Read the current processing
times. We will normally be able to submit most applications within 1-2 weeks of you instructing us, but this depends on
whether all documentation is ready and/or if the application has sufficient merits. We will let you know at the
earliest opportunity if it is likely to take longer than this.

Please note the anticipated number of hours and fees are an estimate based on the facts above. All applications are likely to vary and of course, we can give you a more accurate estimate once we have more
information about your specific case.

PROBATE

Our Service and Estimated Time scales:
Your instructions will include a minimum of two meetings. The first involves taking your instructions, including the executors you wish to
appoint, money gifts you wish to make to individuals or charities, etc. Upon the finalization of your instructions, the initial meeting is followed
by a draft Will for your approval within 7 working days. Once you are happy with your Will, a second meeting is arranged for you to attend the
office to sign the Will.
Providing we have all of your instructions, we estimate that the preparation of your Will from the initial meeting to executing the Will to be
between 1 and 3 weeks.

PROBATE (Non-Contentious):
We want to be upfront with our fees. To simplify things we offer a range of options to you within the process of probate.
Our Fees:
Up to and including obtaining the Grant of Probate/Letters of Administration (known as the ‘Grant of Representation’)
This includes obtaining valuations of the assets and liabilities in the estate, preparation of the HMRC tax returns, preparation of the oath,
and application to the District Probate Registry for the Grant of Representation.
We estimate our fees to be between £800 and £2,000 plus VAT plus third-party costs.
Factors that may affect the fees are the number of assets in the estate, whether the estate valuations are provided to us, whether Inheritance Tax (IHT) is payable on the net estate.
We estimate this stage to take between 2 weeks and 4 months.Factors that may affect the time-scale are whether the estate valuations are provided to us, whether claiming exemption and reliefs is applicable, e.g. Transferable Nil Rate Band from the predeceased spouse, dealing with enquiries raised by HMRC.
Post Grant of Representation:
This includes collecting the assets, settling the liabilities, making the distributions to beneficiaries, preparing the distribution accounts.
For this stage of probate, we will charge our fees on an hourly basis. We estimate our fees to be between £2,000 and £6,000 plus VAT and third-
party costs.
Factors that may affect the fees are the numbers of assets to collect,, whether any tax is payable during the administration period
e.g. Capital Gains Tax etc.
We estimate this stage to take between 2 weeks and 4 months.
Factors that may affect the fees are the number of assets to collect, details of beneficiaries, clearance letter from HMRC if IHT was paid on
the estate etc.
NB: You can choose the elements of work you instruct us to take from the 2 stages of probate and we can discuss a fixed fee going forward.

When dealing with the purchase of leasehold properties it is quite common to have to enter into a Deed of Covenant with the Landlord or
the Management Company as well as serving notice of the transaction on the landlord. This can result in increased charges payable to the
management company or managing agents and you should allow approximately £200 to deal with this.

disbursements on your behalf to ensure a smoother process. There are certain disbursements that will be set out in the
individual lease relating to the Property. The disbursements which we anticipate will apply are set out separately. This list is not exhaustive
and other disbursements may apply depending on the term of the lease. We will update you on the specific fees upon receipt and review of
the lease from the seller’s solicitors.
Stamp Duty Land Tax:
This depends on the purchase price of your property. You can calculate the amount you will need to pay by using HMRC’s website or if the
property is located in Wales by using the Welsh Revenue Authority’s website.
The final quote will depend on the value of the property and the complexity of the transaction. We would warn you that there are some
changes made by others which we will not be able to ascertain until we are instructed and make the necessary
inquiries. We will inform you as soon as possible once we know these additional charges. For example, the obtaining of a
management pack from the freeholder when selling a leasehold property.
Time Scale
How long will my house sale/purchase take?
The average process takes between 7 to 8 weeks.
It can be quicker or slower, depending on the parties in the chain. For example, if you are a first-time buyer, purchasing a newly built
property with a mortgage in principle, it could take 6 weeks. However, if you are buying a leasehold property that requires an extension of
the lease, this can take significantly longer, between 3 to 4 months. In such a situation additional charges would apply.
How long will my house remortgage take?
The average process takes between 1 to 4 weeks depends on the Lender conditions.
Commercial Lease matter
We can agree to charge fixed fees but can also agree to work on an hourly rate basis; we are able to provide
average costs that you can incur during your matter. Below is an estimate of costs as a guide only, but we can
give an accurate cost assessment once we have full details of your matter: –
Our average fee for commercial lease matters is: £500-£1500
Plus, DISBURSEMENT, VAT is chargeable on our fees @ 20% and VAT also applies on some disbursement @20%.
Other costs in addition to our fees, some time if you are a buyer then you must pay the Landlord solicitors fee as
well. It depends upon your agreed terms and conditions with the seller.
Time Period: From the date of your instruction we estimate it will take 6-8 weeks. It can be quicker or slower,
depending on the parties’ cooperation to each other or the complexities that arise during the transaction.
